With the Fête de la Gastronomie from September 26th to 28th and the Montmartre Harvest Festival from October 8th to 13th there is a whole world of food related fun to enjoy at gourmet festivals in Paris this year. With rich flavours, subtlety and quality mixed with flair and style, French cuisine has gained a well-deserved international reputation. Therefore it’s no surprise to learn that in Paris we love to celebrate our superb culinary culture with festivals that provide entertainment for all the family.
Celebrate The Great French Culinary Tradition
Launched in 2011, the Gastronomy Festival takes place throughout France and allows the nation to rediscover the wealth of an acclaimed culinary heritage. Naturally, Paris joins in this nationwide event with her customary gastronomic gusto and an unequalled sense of style. The centerpiece of the event is the various participating chefs and restaurants across the capital creating menus and special dishes for the public to sample. They will also share their tips and advice with you regarding recipes, new approaches to cooking and the best way to match wines with dishes. Hit the streets and delight your taste buds for an entire, glorious weekend. Bon appétit!
Then, just over a week later comes the Harvest Festival of Montmartre, another eagerly anticipated annual gourmet gathering. It may come as a surprise to many that there is a vineyard in the heart of Paris, but it’s true. Hidden away not far from the Sacré-Cœur Basilica is a field of vines, the Clos Montmartre, that was established in the mid-1930s. Each year it produces around 1000 to 1500 bottles and the harvest is celebrated in fine style with parades, exhibitions, concerts and a spectacular fireworks display. There are also craft stalls and others where you can sample local produce including, of course, wine. Inclusive, welcoming and warm-hearted, this festival is a joy to attend and you are invited.
Experience Paris Through Art at The Biennale des Antiquaires
Since 1962, Paris has been the perfectly suited location for the Biennale des Antiquaires, an event at which the world’s foremost antiques and art dealers and experts have the opportunity to show the finest items in their possession. Organised by the Syndicat National des Antiquaires, an authoritative group whose commitment to impeccable standards of quality is of worldwide renown, La Biennale offers a matchless experience. Taking place in the elegant surroundings of the Grand Palais from September 11th to 21st, this is much more than just an arts fair, it is a prestigious event and a chance to see objets d’art rarely viewed outside of museums.
